Adult Residential Services

Upstate Cerebral Palsy offers individuals with differing abilities a variety of residential living options, which are comfortable, supportive, and most importantly, a secure, home environment.

Individuals may be offered placement in a specialized home within a four-county region with aids and supports unique to each person’s needs. Residents interact with peers and are guided by professional staff to help with their daily living.

Currently, Upstate Cerebral Palsy operates more than 25 homes across Madison, Oneida, Lewis and Herkimer counties. Some homes have four individuals while others offer a residence for up to 12, all based on the needs of the residents. The residences provide a caring atmosphere that celebrates everyone living in the home and respects their uniqueness, style and personality, from home décor to favorite foods.

Our specialized staff at each house offers services for those who are behaviorally challenged or medically involved. Residential service staff focus their attention on developing service plans that meet the needs of the people we support, but more importantly, help them to achieve their dreams. Assistance is provided to help people live as independently as possible and enhance skills necessary to perform daily activities.  This includes personal grooming, household chores, cooking, communication skills and social skills. Adults with a mental health diagnosis that require special support will receive services in this residential setting geared to their particular diagnosis and assist with their treatment as they become integrated into the community.

Some of those living in our residential programs have transitioned from our school age program. New and interested individuals and their families are encouraged to visit and become a part of our ever-growing Upstate Cerebral Palsy family.
