Affiliations

Upstate Cerebral Palsy is a private, not-for-profit agency, locally incorporated as a 501(c)3 and governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. Upstate Cerebral Palsy also works with related corporations in carrying out its mission. The Cerebral Palsy Association of the Mohawk Valley, Inc. was established in 1986 as the fund raising arm of the agency. Mohawk Valley Handicapped Services, Inc. is a separately incorporated agency that serves as a holding corporation for many of the agency’s facilities. The Kelberman Center was founded in 2005 to provide programs and services to children and adults with autism spectrum disorder and their families. Together these organizations form a Caring Partnership of services committed to improving the lives of children, adults and their families who face challenges in everyday living.

The Ronald McDonald Camp for Special Children is another organization closely aligned with Upstate Cerebral Palsy. This 20+ acre camp provides opportunities for children and adults served by Upstate Cerebral Palsy to participate in day camp activities, including swimming, arts and crafts, nature hikes, and other outdoor activities.

On a state and national level, Upstate Cerebral Palsy is affiliated with the CP Association of New York State, which includes 25 non-profit agencies whose collective mission is to affect positively the quality of life for persons with disabilities and multiple service needs, and their families.

Additionally, the local agency is affiliated with Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, the National Down Syndrome Society, and other regional, state and national organizations having an interest in advancing the independence of people with disabilities.

The regional Upstate Cerebral Palsy is a member of four area United Way federations including United Way of the Valley and Greater Utica Area, Rome and Western Oneida County United Way and the Greater Little Falls Community Chest.
